Students Excel in Catwalk Sensation

fashionFashion students from City College Coventry are planning to set the city’s fashion scene in a spin by selling their own designer t-shirt, badges and hair bands in Coventry’s Lower Precinct. The students will be there on Friday 24th April from 9am till 5pm and they are hoping to raise money to support the College’s annual Fashion Show which will take place on the 24th and 25th June.

The project as been organized by Gemma Vanson, 24, from Cheylesmore, who is currently in her final year of her BTEC National Diploma in Fashion course.

Gemma said, "Every year City College Coventry hosts a Fashion show to showcase the talent of its students, the fashion show represents the end of our academic year and it is an event that we all get very excited about."

"This year, the students have been given the opportunity to make the show our own by organizing it ourselves and since this will be the first fashion show at the new Swanswell campus, we’ve decided to make it one to remember."

fashionGemma added, "In order to raise money for material costs and advertising we decided to raise money by selling our own designs to the public. Each student has made badges and hair bands to sell, so they are all individual. We will be selling t-shirts; the print was designed by fashion student Ashleigh Smith and looks great.

"We will all be in the Lower Precinct on April 24th, this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in fashion courses to have a chat with us, or it is an ideal opportunity to own a one off piece by Britain’s next biggest designer!"

The College’s Fashion Show is the highlight of the College’s annual Arts Week. Over 50 fashion students from the College’s BTEC National Diploma in Fashion courses together with over 50 volunteer models will take to the catwalk in front of a captivated audience for what is proving to be a fascinating display of talent, imagination and originality.
